Running

Enjoying the Pleasant weather this week.  It has been nice to enjoy this time.

15 miles felt great.  Legs are still full of energy.   

The weather today was rainy.  It was hard to even go out and run.  I saw a 4 point buck (10 point back east).  It was very beautiful.  That is definitely one of the reasons I love running.

Try running this far in the snow.  It was cold today.  It is nice to clean up my muddy shoes though.  15 miles mostly on slippery trails, that ought to strengthen my stabilizing muscles.

I ran an easy seven miles.  But the highlight of today was going to the U of U football game vs TCU.  That was pretty exciting, although I think that statistically TCU won the game, the U managed to score more points, and that is all that matters in Football.

Another great day of running.  I am excited for the next race, and debating on which Thanksgiving run to do.  I have run the Orem 4 mile run several times, but I think trying something new would be fun.  

I decided to keep this week pretty low mileage.  I am super busy reading books and writing papers, so the mileage will have to come this weekend.

I don't think that I need to put in too many miles this week.  I am just working hard in school and learning more about the running world at work.  It has been a lot of fun learning about a new event in the running community.

I ran seven miles before heading to work after school today.  It was a nice run and I am excited and nervous for the long run this weekend.  It should be quite an experience.  I think that I will do some speed work tomarrow and take all day Friday to rest and travel to Texas.

I went down to Texas for the 24 hour run US championships.  Mizuno gave me a couple pairs of Wave Riders, Tifosi gave me a couple pairs of sunglasses, Yankz! paid for my hotel and gave me their laces, Black Diamond gave me a spot headlight, and miomed gave me some lotions.  It was nice to get the support from all these great companies.  The course description said that it was a flat cour9 amse, only 9 feet of elevation change and that it was a 1 mile loop.  This made it easy to keep track of the distance that I had gone.  But when I showed up at the course I was surprised to find an extremely hilly course, with three hills per lap.  Also the laps where about 1.15 miles so it was more difficult to keep track of the distance you had traveled.  I also was told that I had the best chance of anyone of breaking the American Record at the race, but when I started running a guy in Brook's gear just took off.  I soon learned that he was the best 100 mile + runner in the world.  So obviously I had been lied to on every front.  It soon became apparent to me that it would be nearly impossible for me to get any money out of the race, due to the requirements on distance which were established before the race, to after just over 3 hours I decided to quit and head home a day early.  It was a miserable experience.  I would definitely advise people not to ever race the ultracentric, as I feel that it is run by a dishonest organization.  It was a miserable introduction to ultra running.

I woke up early and went on a little jog.  It was super nice to shake out the legs and get going.  I am going to ask Demetrio Cabanillas to write up a workout plan with the goal being the Spring marathon Season.  It should be great.

I went easy again today, my hamstring and butt are sore, so  I went and got a massage from an old Russian lady.  She was tougher than Sasha ;)

I ran an easy five miles to work today.  The back pack that I was wearing rubbed my neck raw.  (I hate running with packbacks, but I needed my work gear)  I signed Meagan and I up for the Cold Turkey run which starts at the Utah State Capital Building and ends in Memory grove.  It should be nice to run down hill.

Well I proved today that I can beat a bunch of junior high girls in a 5k.  It was a major boost for my self image. JK  Well truth be told I loved this event.  It was wonderful to see all the youth out and running.  I wonder if the USATF youth program could learn from this race and organization.  They had a ton of kids out running with their parents. 

The Guy who took 5th at St George was there.  He ran with me until mile 2 and then I through in a hard surge to drop him.  It was just fun to run.

It is nice to just run for fun for a couple weeks.  I have been sick this week.  Meagan and I have the same bug, but we are happy and loving life.  It is sad to see the weather get colder and more miserable.  I enjoy the summer runs much more that I enjoy the winter ones.  I guess that I need to find more beauty in winter running, but it is hard to see beauty when my eyes are frozen. 

Well I decided to come out and run the Cold Turkey.  After winning the 4 miler in Utah county the last couple years I wanted to try something new.  Besides that some of the $ went to spiderman, and the family with a 2.5 year old child suffering from luekemia and chemo therapy.  It was a great race.  Nobody too competitive was pushing me besides a 16 year old named Jamal.  After the race I gave the 1st overall medal to the Father of the cancer patient.  I know that kid is running a lot tougher race right now, and I hoped that the medal would brighten his day.  Well gotta jet.
