Wow it feels good to taper.  This was another good solid run with some extended strides in the middle at marathon pace.  Then I finished with some faster strides, 5k pace at the end.

Man I am excited for the race.  This 7 mile run was like a warmup.  it felt good.  I am looking forward to watching the Utes crush the Beavers today.  That should be fun.  but nothing this week compares to my main man Geb, with his 2:03:59 marathon.  We will see if Wanjiru can hit that mark.  Well good luck to everyone this weekend.

I ran a few miles with Jeff and Logan along the mississippi river.  It was nice to stretch out the legs.  We ran into Kara Goucher and Alberto Salazar while on the trail.  We stopped and talked with them for a minute.  It was fun.  (I didn't introduce Logan or Jeff, Jeff will probably never forgive me)

Well the big race finally came.  The weather was cold when the Women's US Championship 10 mile race started (1 hour before the marathon).  The roads were wet, but it wasn't raining.  The marathon started easy.  No one wanted to lead, Logan and I relaxed and began running with Dennis Simonaitis.  Then the rain started. Mile 4 or so.  I noticed that I was not on the pace that I wanted to run so I left the pack alone to chase down the next two solo runners and the 2nd pack.  This took 4-5 miles.  I felt good at eleven miles in, so I surged ahead with the leaders of the second pack, including Micheal Wardian.  I was feeling good with them, but it was getting colder.  Soon I lost feeling in my feet and hamstrings and butt.  It became harder to turn over my stride, and I was slowing down by mile mark 20.  The last 10k was up and down rolling hills.  It was death, a strong headwind, with everyone strung out.  It was miserable.  At the finish I was just glad to be done.  I ran a 41:06 on the last 10k.  Ouch.  The race was a good learning experience.  I believe that I can hit the "A" standard on a day with better weather.

You wouldn't believe how hard it was to run 10 miles today.  The first few felt like the last few on the marathon Sunday, but then I got warmed up and started to feel better.  Time to crank up the miles and set my next race goal.  It should be fun.

I ran 9 miles up city creek today.  It felt good to climb, and then the downhill was nice to open up my stride a little bit.  I am still sore, but I feel better than I did after my first two marathons.  This PF Chang's Rock and Roll Arizona Marathon advertisement does make me want to run it, but I think that I will pass this year.

Yesterday night I felt horrible.  I started to get a bad migraine and felt like I was going to puke.  I even left work early to go home and sleep.  I slept 10 hours and i woke up feeling pretty good, but I still feel like a migraine is coming on.  Oh Well. I still was able to run and get rid of some more soreness.  My legs are feeling better and better.  At work yesterday I didn't even notice being sore when I bent down to help customers.  So that was good.

Has anyone run the St. Jude Marathon?  Let me know what you think of it.

I still have been bothered with migraines and poor sleep.  Oh Well.  I just did an easy 7 miles today.  Tomorrow I will try to plug a long run.  We will see how that feels.  I have to fit it in between a work meeting, sister-in-laws wedding, and her reception.  So that should be interesting.

I ran a solo 16 miles in city creek canyon today.  It was great.  My legs are fresh even though I have had a lingering cold.  I am still looking into what my next race will be.

Well last week I ended up working two jobs and trying to get over my cold.  The running was definitely on the back burner.  This week school and running will be crazy busy.  I ran an easy 12 miles solo.  It feels good to get out and run.  I am looking forward to a 2-a day tomorrow.

I ran 13 miles up and down city creek canyon.  It was nice to see all the people out and about.

I ran 6 miles in the morning to shake out, then I went as far as I could up city creek later in the day.  20 miles seemed like enough.  That is a beautiful canyon.  I only saw 1 biker on the way up and 3 on the way down.  It is nice to have that trail without all the people.

I had an extremely busy day with work and school.  I was lucky to get in these miles.

30 miles is a long run. I am doing it after I get home from school. That will be a blast.  For some reason my computer at home has trouble with this site, so I usually just type up my reports at school.

I am running from SLC to Highland today.  That should be a fun run.  Yesterday's run was very comfortable the whole time.  I went pretty slow and even got to jog with Demetrio Cabanillas for a few miles.  It was nice to run with somebody.  Today I expect that I will do the entire run alone, unless I find someone while running.
