I went on a run from my parents house in Highland.  The weather was wonderful today.  I saw 1 moose, 43 elk, a pheasant and tons of deer.  It was really cool.  The mileage was relaxed and easy.  It is nice to just enjoy running without the stress of racing right now.

I went on a long slippery run all over salt lake.  I didn't see very much wildlife, but it was a very enjoyable run.  I think I spotted 15 deer or so, but nothing else, besides a large black lab which tried to bite me.  Stupid Dog!  I am still working on increasing my mileage, and I am debating how aggressively I want to race this year.  We will see.

I went on another slippery run on the trails above Salt Lake today.  It was awesome.  The Boneville Shoreline trail is so packed during the summer, but during the winter hardly anyone runs it.  I have a little pain in my hamstring, and one the top left side of my right knee.  I rolled my muscles out with the stick yesterday after the run, and today it feels much better.

I ran around Salt Lake again.  It has been great.  my hamstrings and calves are still tight, but I feel pretty healthy.

Nice workout. I think the cold weather makes the muscles tight and less motion. I guess that's why it's always good to get a good stretch in.

I ran a good 6 miler around SLC today.  There is only about 1 inch of snow on the streets.  So that was nice because it provided traction.

I had to get up early to run before a long day at work.  These miles were a little slow and sore at first, but then they got to feeling easy and fun.  I feel like I am getting into better shape.

So Seth, What is slow on this run for you? Nice to see you on the blog man. Keep it up so you can tow me in this year ok?

From seth on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 11:38:19

Slow at the beginning was 7-8 min miles, then I picked up to 6-7 min miles for the rest of the run. It look like you are running well. Keep it up. We should have a fun year.

My legs are feeling pretty good right now.  An easy 15 miles is helping up my confident for the future races.   I am feeling better and better as far as my overall fitness goes.  I have to run hard this week, because next week I will be eating 24-7 on a cruise to Mexico with Meagan's family. Yea!

Well today I finally feel fast again.  It has been a while since I have felt this way.  I am pretty stoked with it.  The 10 miles were great besides this persistant cough that is bugging me.

This morning I ran with the other Salt Lake Running Company employees.  It was a nice run with some intervals.  The legs were surprised with the speed, but they still felt good the entire time.  I am looking forward to running in 80 degree weather next week.  It will be  a nice change from the 30 degree weather this morning.

I got up early and plugged a nice run through SLC.  The roads were pretty dry with small patches of ice.  I am now looking for a training partner in SLC.  The solo runs have become too boring and repetitive.  I am debating on running the Salt Lake winter series 5k this weekend.  We will see.

Who does Teren Jameson run with?

From Sasha Pachev on Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 14:34:42

Try Chad. http://chad.fastrunningblog.com/ - 2:33 marathon in St. George on a good day, 2:36 last year, or in other words 2:30. Also Josh Steffen - 2:30 in St. George last year, so in other words around 2:24. Chad would know how to get in touch with Josh.

Adam Wende - http://arw.fastrunnigblog.com/. Recovering from an injury, but looks like he is running.

James Moore http://fiddy.fastrunningblog.com/

2:40 in Boston, 1:13 half on a hilly sea-level course.

From James on Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 14:38:12

I would love to hook up with you when I am better. I replied to your comment on my blog. Go win that SLC track club series.Sasha might even be able to get you my spot.

Seth, Can you run in the afternoon or evening?

Where do you live?

I ran this in 1:37 which felt pretty comfortable.  It was nice to head out to the Jordan River Parkway because it is extremely flat.  13.5 miles down 5,000 to go ;)

This was a fun run.  I decided to do it last second to run with the great Triathlete BJ Christensen.  It was a blast.  BJ, Jeff and I went out at 5 minutes the first mile with BJ in the lead until half way.  At that point I took over the pace and soon it was just Jeff and I running.  With about 600 m left I backed off and coasted in.  Jeff ran great today, as did tons of other athletes.  It was a fun event.  Lots of people, but the coarse was pretty boring.  Oh Well.

Great race, as always!

From MichelleL on Sun, Feb 01, 2009 at 20:18:04

Just curious, why didn't you race Jeff to the end?

From seth on Mon, Feb 02, 2009 at 11:42:32

It was a fun run. Thanks Burt.

Michelle, Jeff ran great. I am just not wanting to start my real race season for a couple more months. I don't think it is healthy to race hard all the time. Have a great day.

I got up and ran an easy 7.5.  These miles were not quite as exciting as the Superbowl.  I feel good, not sore at all.  So that is a positive.

11.5 in the evening after work.  I am finally locking in on the 7 min mile pace.  The IT Band is tight, but I think a good massage will loosen it up.

I decided to see how the trails up city creek canyon are this year.  They are icy-snowy-muddy.  The trails broke in my New Balance shoes.  So that is nice.  The weather was super warm this afternoon, 48 F.  Well better go make dinner and finish up some reading.

I got up early and ran with Chad and Josh. Talk about great runners. It was nice to have some company. They told me about last year's St George Marathon. Sounds like a ton of fun. The mileage was enough for this morning. I will see how I feel this afternoon.

It was good to hook up with you this morning, Seth. Let's do it again. You've got a great season ahead of you.

From dave holt on Wed, Feb 04, 2009 at 11:41:29

They must have been talking about some other race - it was anything but "a ton of fun".

From seth on Wed, Feb 04, 2009 at 11:59:04

Chad,

I thought that this morning was a race. You totally put me into the hurt locker. Best of luck with everything, I look forward to running with you again.

Dave, All racing should be fun. Expecially the races you aren't worried about.

From dave holt on Wed, Feb 04, 2009 at 12:44:28

It actually was fun - but gut-wrenching at the same time.

Congrats on the new addition this fall. Katey and I are loving life down here in St. George. We haven't had to shovel snow once! My leg is slowly but surely feeling better. My focus now is running Squaw Peak in June. It will be a nice change of scenery for the next little while. Hope the IT band starts to feel better.

I went on a nice 9.3 miles this evening. I wasn't feeling well this morning, and decided it would be better not to get up and run. The IT Band is feeling better, although it is still too tight for my liking.

Congrats on the win and the smokin' 2:22 at Ogden! Man, that is a strong run...did you have to run most of it by yourself or did you work with Nick?
